The Star Wars ride was incredible. The line? About an hour. But here’s where Disneyland surprised us: my wife didn’t have to stand the whole time. She was able
to sit and relax while my daughter and I slowly made our way through the queue. Once we got close to the front, we called a Disneyland cast member, and they
brought my wife up to join us right before we boarded.
That’s the kind of thoughtful experience that makes Disney special.
And then… we walked through the gates.
Suddenly, we weren’t in California anymore. We were on a First Order Star Destroyer. Imperial Stormtroopers—probably 100 of them—stood at attention, staring us down.
The room was massive, with towering windows that showed the vastness of space outside. It felt like we were inside the movies.
The immersion was unreal. You walk through shuttle bays. You come face-to-face with Kylo Ren himself. The ride makes you feel like you’re escaping through a battle cruiser,
dodging blaster fire, running from the dark forces of the First Order. It’s exhilarating, intense, and absolutely worth the wait.
My daughter loved it. My wife was blown away. And I? I was soaking it all in—not just as a dad on vacation, but as someone learning to document life in a way that builds something bigger.
Pirates of the Caribbean and the Joy of Classic Rides
After Star Wars, we hit Pirates of the Caribbean—a classic. There’s something timeless about that ride. The drop down the waterfall (and yes, you get a little wet).
The dark Caribbean caves lit by torchlight. The animatronic pirates singing, looting, and causing chaos in villages, beaches, dungeons, and cells.
It’s nostalgic. It’s fun. And even though I’ve been on it a dozen times, it never gets old.
We also jumped on Star Tours, which threw us into hyperspace at what felt like lightspeed. The screen simulation, the motion of the ship, the sudden drops and turns—it’s
like being inside a Star Wars dogfight. My daughter laughed. My wife said she got wet. I held on and grinned the whole way through.

Fantasmic—Dinner and a Show We’ll Never Forget
Later that evening, we grabbed dinner at one of the restaurants near the Rivers of America. The timing was perfect because we had front-row seats to Fantasmic.
If you’ve never seen Fantasmic, it’s hard to describe. It’s part water show, part fireworks, part live performance, part movie magic. Peter Pan and Captain Hook swinging
across ropes on a three-masted ship. Boats gliding across the water with Disney characters waving as they pass. Water screens projecting classic Disney scenes. Lasers. Lights. Music.
And then… the dragon.
A massive, fire-breathing dragon that makes the whole lake look like it’s burning. It’s stunning.
We sat there eating, watching, soaking it all in. Even though we’ve seen it countless times all our eyes were wide.
My wife and I kept looking at each other with that “this is why we do this” smile.
It was one of those perfect nights.

One of my favorite moments didn’t even happen on a ride—it happened after.
My daughter took a picture of me standing in front of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Just a regular dad-at-Disneyland photo. But later,

I edited the photo so it looked like I was onthe roller coaster—mid-ride, hair blowing back, full action shot. It turned out so good that people thought it was real.
